Icarus Game Update: New Platinum Shield and Growable Coconut Trees on the Horizon

Welcome to Week 161 of Icarus, where players are in for a treat with the introduction of the new Platinum Shield and a sneak peek at next week’s exciting updates. This week, the game developers have added a Tier 4 option to the shield collection, the Platinum Shield, which boasts a large blocking radius and a unique design. The Platinum Shield is craftable on the Foundry and offers more blocking radius than its steel and titanium counterparts but less damage blocked than titanium. Shields in Icarus can be crafted and used in the offhand with any one-handed weapons, providing players with the ability to block incoming damage effectively. Additionally, shields can be placed in the ‘Utility Slot,’ appearing on the player’s back and offering a bit of damage mitigation when attacked from behind.

In other news, the developers have addressed a known issue where clients are unable to fire ranged weapons when connecting to a friend who is hosting or a dedicated server. This problem seems to affect older prospects with existing weapons but not new ones crafted during the session. A potential fix has been implemented on the Experimental Branch, though it comes with a warning that this build is not fully tested and includes content slated for future releases.

Looking ahead to next week, Icarus players can expect the addition of growable coconut trees. Coconut seeds will be available for planting, allowing players to cultivate their own coconut trees and accumulate coconuts more easily than traversing the map to find wild ones. Alongside this update, new recipes featuring freshly grown fruit will also be introduced.

The support from the Icarus community has been instrumental in making these updates possible. Players can show their appreciation by checking out the available bundles on Steam, including the Icarus Pets Bundle and the Icarus Complete the Set bundle. The latest changelog, v2.2.36.131002-rel-Laika, includes the addition and unlocking of the platinum shield, blueprint, recipe, and functionality.
