Don't Starve Together New Release: Ancient Echoes Update Coming Next Week

September 11, 2025 - Klei Entertainment is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the 'Ancient Echoes' update for Don't Starve Together. Set to launch next Thursday, September 18th, this standalone multiplayer expansion introduces a wealth of new content and quality-of-life improvements to the beloved survival game.

The update introduces the Fumarole area, where an old companion of the Ancients will appear during the Shadow Rift. Players can also encounter the Giant Whirlpool, which pulls everything down but requires Caves to be enabled for it to appear. Hidden rooms in the Caves with Ancient lore await exploration for those who can find the entrance.

Quality-of-life improvements include Woodie’s Wooden Walking Stick no longer consuming durability when its wearer is not moving. Additionally, birds now have death sounds, and bird sounds will disappear from the turf ambience for most of the Post-Lunar Hail period. Bridges can now be placed in the Labyrinth Maze.
