GONE Fishing Announces Major Update with New Map, Features, and Bug Fixes
October 05, 2025 - GONE Fishing, the co-op multiplayer survival horror game where players must work together to fish their way to survival, has unveiled its latest update. This substantial update introduces a wealth of new content, mechanics, and bug fixes designed to enhance gameplay and immerse players further in the lake’s eerie world.
At the heart of this update is the introduction of 'The Canyons,' a brand-new map currently in its Beta phase. Players can look forward to exploring this vast and treacherous environment, brimming with 8 new bait types, 2 formidable creatures/monsters, and 9 distinct fish species that await discovery.
To heighten the tension during nighttime creature encounters, GONE Fishing has implemented a 'struggle' mechanic. This feature offers players a second chance to evade death, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement to their survival attempts. Additionally, the radio has been enriched with a new track titled 'In The Pines,' enhancing the game's atmospheric experience.
For fans who utilize Discord, the update introduces Discord presence integration, allowing players to showcase their current in-game status directly on the platform.
Bug fixes and performance improvements have also been prioritized. A significant CPU bottleneck related to the nav mesh has been resolved, along with foliage optimizations that deliver performance enhancements ranging from 25% to 100% per map. Other notable updates include removing the free Chasmcaller (Tentacle) from spawning in the lake map and adjusting the 'enter' rate for the Chasm Caller tunnel to one person every five seconds.
Further bug fixes address issues with the Sticky Hook perk, preventing players from infinitely snapping their lines; now, lines snap after two seconds in red. Additionally, hardchecks have been added to stop reeling sound effects from looping indefinitely. Exploits related to fishing under terrain and bait reuse have also been patched, ensuring a fair and balanced gameplay experience.
Other improvements include fixing the NESSIE achievement unlock bug, adjusting radio static to occur only during night events, reducing camera clip into the player's body while sleeping, increasing drowning time from seven to ten seconds, and preventing random fishing rod drops. Certain audio effects now respond to the master volume slider, further refining the overall audio experience.
