Icarus Fixes - January 31 2026 Update

Date: January 31, 2026

ICARUS, the PvE survival experience for up to eight players, receives a substantial patch that refines core gameplay loops, expands crafting options, and resolves a long list of bugs. The update focuses on quality‑of‑life improvements for resource handling, mount genetics, radiation mechanics, and more.

Key Gameplay Improvements

  • Deployable storage counted for crafting: Batteries, rain reservoirs and portable tanks now contribute directly to resource checks on crafting benches. Example - Pickled Carrots no longer require an active water pump if the linked storage is full.
  • Direct drinking from Tier‑3 water purifier: Players can now drink straight from the purifier; the interaction has been merged for rain‑reservoirs and water‑purifiers.
  • Inventory interaction overhaul: One‑stack items such as oxygen tanks and water‑skins can be dragged and swapped directly in survival slots, speeding up exchanges with purifiers, oxidisers and utility slots.
  • New loot - Elephant Tusks: Replaces mammoth tusks, provides half the bone weight, and yields 200 crushed bone.
  • Spider spawning re‑balanced: Minimum distance from cave entrances tripled, a 5‑minute cooldown after a group is killed, and only one group may occupy a cave at a time.
  • Carbonweave armor & backpack recipe re‑worked: Now uses electronics and gold‑wire instead of large amounts of organic resin.
  • Tier‑3 kitchen sink added: Includes a UI icon and filtered‑water output. Tier‑4 sink renamed to Marble Pumped Sink with effectiveness scaling by cleaning‑efficiency.
  • Lithium‑tool toggle: Press ‘R’ to enable/disable; UI prompt added.
  • Mount ownership release (Homestead builds): Owners can release mounts, allowing other players to claim them.
  • Animal‑husbandry UI icons: New icons clarify breeding, feeding and gestation status.
  • Prototype NPC in Eden: Trades Vestiges for Ren (prototype stage).
  • Workshop sickles pipeline: Miasmic, Obsidian, and Super‑Cooled Ice sickles are queued for future release.
  • Network component update: Crafting benches can now draw water directly from batteries (rain reservoirs).
  • Radiation system overhaul: Emitters now scale with stack size, radioactive items can no longer be placed in bags, and small emitters are added to uranium nodes to create hotspot zones.
  • Genetic system for mounts and tames: Wild genetics are auto‑generated, gestation periods variable (default 1500 s), fertility checks require proximity to the female, and gestating mounts automatically seek a bed.
  • Visual updates: New “Super Rare Black Moa” texture, additional colour variants for Moa and Buffalo, and new “Tundra caves” prefabs (TU_SML_001, TU_MED_001, MED_003).
  • New items & recipes: Oil Can (Tier‑5), adjusted Oil Barrel recipe, Biomass → Material recipes, Banana Toast, Soybean → Milk, Worm‑spawner preview mesh, Animal Nesting Bed assets, and a prototype item to pick up and deploy tamed creatures.

Bug Fixes

  • Inventory swap bug fixed - 1‑stack items (oxygen tanks, water‑skins, etc.) are now recognised as valid swap targets.
  • Creature floor‑angle calculation corrected - NPCs can walk up ramps (walkable angle increased from 45° to ~50°).
  • Mounts/tames drinking logic fixed - they now drink when food is below 75 % and no longer stand up abruptly when hungry or thirsty.
  • Foliage respawning issue resolved - new validation prevents “dirty” foliage from re‑spawning.
  • Flat solar panels now correctly count as solar panels for mission objectives after a base‑class change.
  • Building pieces no longer create dynamic materials each tick.
  • Network component water‑draw from batteries updated for crafting benches.
  • Radiation‑related compile errors cleared.
  • Over‑encumbered tames spawn bug fixed.
  • Temporary fix for creature‑genetics values dropping below zero.
  • Mount gestation speed now triples when resting on an animal bed.
  • Mount fertility logic updated - males must be close to females (previous 2000 units range removed).
  • Spider group spawning limited - no multiple groups in the same cave and a 5‑minute cooldown after a kill.
  • Flat solar panel counting bug for missions fixed.
  • Workshop calf feature lock bug resolved.
  • Radioactive items can no longer be placed in player bags.
  • Radiation emitters correctly scale with stack size.
  • Uranium generator output increased from 10 000 to 100 000; transmutation rate adjusted.
  • Uranium node lighting now reflects remaining resource, and emitters only generate radiation when the node is placed.
  • MapSearchArea now works with the Icarus compass.
  • Mission 6 security door camera alignment fixed.
  • Cave entrance actor rotation issues corrected across multiple biomes.
  • Radiation audio now respects low‑level thresholds.
