Once Human Announces Major Island Paradise Update with New Hide‑and‑Seek Mode and Creation Tools

Date: January 31, 2026

Once Human, the multiplayer open‑world survival game set in a strange post‑apocalyptic future, has just released a major update for the Island Paradise region. The update, scheduled for rollout on February 4 (PT), directly addresses community feedback about the perceived lack of gameplay depth by adding a suite of new facilities, mechanics, and a brand‑new Hide‑and‑Seek mode.

New Hide‑and‑Seek Gameplay Mode

Players can now create custom Hide‑and‑Seek matches from the Main Interface (PC ESC menu or Mobile Menu → Eternaland → Island Paradise). In this mode, one team disguises itself as objects using the new Faction Transformer facility, while the opposing team searches the map to locate and eliminate the hidden players. The last team standing wins. The mode supports building small houses or streets to create hiding spots, and it can be selected via the newly added “Hide and Seek” option when creating a gameplay session.

General Facility Additions

  • Faction Spawn Point: Designates a spawn location for a specific faction.
  • Faction Respawn Point: Sets a respawn location that activates when passed by faction members.
  • Faction Endpoint: Completes a faction’s objective when reached.
  • Text Trigger: Configurable text that activates on player step, with options to limit visible factions and trigger count.

Race‑Track Facilities

Three new checkpoint types - Small, Medium, and Large Track Checkpoints - can be linked to start and end points to create functional race‑track waypoints.

Hide‑and‑Seek Specific Facilities

  • Faction Transformer: Assigns a faction and transformation timing; players become a preset model when triggered.
  • Faction Black Screen Device: Creates a timed blackout for a designated faction.
  • Random Weapon Crate: Grants a random weapon to a faction for the current match.
  • Random Item Crate: Grants random items to a faction for the current match.

New Community Features

  • Creation Subscription: Players can visit a creator’s profile page and subscribe to receive updates on new works.
  • Paradise Coin Tipping: Users can donate Paradise Coins on a gameplay’s detail page, boosting the creator’s visibility. Coins are earned through daily play, publishing paradises, completing challenges, or receiving donations.
  • Personal Hub:
    • My Profile - displays personal information.
    • My Subscriptions - lists followed creators.
    • Paradise Challenges - weekly challenges that grant extra rewards.

Ongoing Development

The team continues to overhaul customizable content for Eternaland and custom servers, aiming for a freer, more user‑friendly creative environment. Progress will be shared via developer blogs, with ongoing community idea collection.
