Space Engineers Unveils 1.209 Update with Modernized Economy and New Services Terminal

January 28, 2026 - Space Engineers has just released its 1.209 update, bringing a host of new features and a revamped economy system to the sandbox engineering title that lets players design and build ships, stations, and planetary bases in a fully destructible environment.

The update focuses on modernising the Economy System, making Trade Stations useful, practical, and worth visiting throughout the game. Players can now interact with a brand‑new Services Terminal that offers a variety of services payable with Space Credits.

With the Services Terminal, you can:

  • Repair your ship or station after combat
  • Sell salvaged grid material back to the economy
  • Access other time‑saving services that keep you in the action instead of in front of a computer

In addition, the update introduces a new “Grid Storage” block. Build one at your base to store and retrieve entire grids-ideal for keeping old ships, swapping specialised vessels, or freeing up PCU for new builds.

Key Highlights:

  • Modernised Economy System for meaningful Trade Stations
  • Services Terminal for on‑the‑go repairs and salvage
  • Grid Storage block for easy grid management
